Strangely this quirky arrangement continued on, with Atsuko starting to feel something strange each time she sees the sheer joy on Riri’s face. With a reputation to uphold, she refuses to let Riri, but when the persistent feeling got her thinking if this is love.

Unsurprisingly, Atsuko has an unofficial fan club or more accurately a club wishing to be her minions. The closeness of Atsuko and Riri did not go unnoticed, and Riri was soon approached by the club’s captain Tamako Hosho.
When asked what relationship do they share, Hosho was smug that it was purely of Atsuko saying cute words and Riri listening to her saying cute words. How can they be considered as dating when they aren’t even friends to begin with? Riri fell into a internal crisis and started to avoid Atsuko so as not to be a burden anymore, leading to further misunderstandings on Atsuko’s end.
Personal Review
This story caught my eye because of the vintage looking art style, and the super cute premise where a tough delinquent meets her unexpected match in the form of an innocent easygoing classmate. “Oh they couldn’t resist each other’s cute faces” was my thought while I happily read through their various encounters.
Among all the sweet moments between the two leads, I also appreciated the additions near the end about Riri’s guilt, her parents’ expectations, and Atsuko’s mother support. At the end of the day, every bit of love and support matters.
Final Thought
The Delinquent and The Transfer Student is a high school yuri romance story that’s packed with plentiful cute moments, comedic moments, and occasional reality check moments. All which one expects from young girls prone to being expressive yet also keenly aware of societal expectations.
